Description
This course teaches how to build the resilience within ourselves that is needed to be available and effective in our roles.
This course will look at the following areas:
- Protecting Yourself: Compassion fatigue and burnout can lead to mental health problems like depression and anxiety. Recognising the signs and taking steps to recover protects our well-being and ensures we can continue providing excellent care.
- When burnout sets in, it's a struggle to be fully present and effective in your work. Compassion fatigue can lead to feelings of cynicism and detachment, which can severely hinder your ability to connect with and support service users.
- Improved Client Care: Social workers who are well-rested and emotionally healthy are better able to provide empathetic and compassionate care.
- Reduced Staff Turnover: Burnout significantly contributes to staff turnover in social care. Organisations can create a healthier work environment and retain valuable staff members by understanding how to prevent and recover from burnout.
- Building Resilience: The skills you learn to recover from compassion fatigue and burnout can be applied throughout your life. Developing healthy coping mechanisms and prioritising self-care makes you more resilient in the face of future challenges.
We will focus on the practical aspect of social care work, which is very rewarding but also emotionally demanding. It is important to know how to recover from compassion fatigue and burnout so that you can take care of yourself and provide the best care possible to others.
